About the event
It's Pi Day! Â How fitting that we chose this day to host a workshop on making pie crust from scratch.
Pastry instructor Gina Guth shares the tricks and easy method for creating a flaky crust. You will learn how to mix using either shortening or lard, how to roll with ease and transfer to the pie pan. Â Gina will demonstrate how to flute the pie with special tools and by hand the old fashioned way.Â
The $25 cost includes the lesson, recipe, and ingredients to make 2 single or one double pie crust. Take the crusts home to fill and bake at your convenience or freeze for later use.Â
The $50 cost will allow you to make a fruit (apple or cherry) pie filling that will make a double crust or lattice pie top. Bake in our commercial oven or take home to bake later.Â
A demonstration on blind baking pie crust for refrigerator pies such as coconut or banana cream pies will also be included.
