In memory of Gina’s parents, Ray and Jean (Lardinois) Guth you can learn how to make German Pretzels and Belgian Pie. These two activities celebrate the lives of 2 people who were the inspiration for The Flour Pot business. Both left us on Memorial Day weekend; Jean in 1981 and Ray in 1998.

About the event

German Pretzels and Belgian Pie!

At this event you will be able to participate in 2 distinct activities.

Activity Number 1-Pretzels

You will shape, boil and bake yourself a pretzel! Beer cheese dip will be available for your tasting pleasure. Grab a beer next door at The Abbey Bar next door and enjoy on the outdoor patio where we will be celebrating with German music.

The exact origin of the pretzel is difficult to trace, but one widely accepted theory ties it to early medieval monastic life. By the 6th or 7th century, monks in southern France or northern Italy are believed to have developed a looped bread that symbolized arms crossed in prayer. They called it pretiola (“little reward”) and gave it to children for learning their prayers.

Activity Number 2-Belgian Pie
